Mapua / Ruby Bay started life as the fruit basket of Tasman District, servicing the surrounding apple orchards. Located on the western mouth of the Waimea Inlet this once sleepy village is now a bustling tourist centre. The waterfront hosts many attractions and eateries and features views of Tasman Bay, the Waimea Inlet, Rabbit Island, and the Richmond Ranges.

Hanmer Springs is a charming alpine village surrounded by snow capped mountains and forests. Unwind in the natural hot pools, play golf, hike or mountain bike the forest trails or saddle up for a gentle horse trek.

The Waiau River provides the rush of a jet boat ride, whitewater rafting or bungy jumping. Dine at delightful cafes and restaurants or browse in the art and craft shops.

This is a great place to stopover on the scenic drive from Nelson to Christchurch.
